May 19, 2018 – ADVANCED EXTRICATION TRAINING WITH RALEIGH RESCUE 1

This afternoon, Raleigh Rescue 1 visited New Hope Station 1, to review advanced stabilization and extrication techniques. Crews from Engine 1 and Rescue 14 went over specialized tools carried by RFD Rescue 1, as well as stabilized a vehicle in an “unusual position” using struts from Engine 1 and chains off Rescue 14, before using hydraulic tools to gain access and remove a simulated patient from an overturned vehicle.

Crews also reviewed winch operations, as well as tools that could manually stabilize and move a 2000 lb vehicle.

Thanks to A-shift Captain Blair and RFD Captain Hopkins for setting up the training session.
