At 1507 hr, Engine 1, Rescue 14 and Car 1 are assisting @Knightdale_PSA Fre Department at a two-car MVA, with one overturned, on I540 by the Old Milburnie bridge. Additional ems units requested to the scene

This afternoon, Raleigh Rescue 1 visited New Hope Station 1, to review advanced stabilization and extrication techniques. Crews from Engine 1 and Rescue 14 went over specialized tools carried by RFD Rescue 1, as well as stabilized a vehicle in an “unusual position” using struts from Engine 1 and chains off Rescue 14, before using hydraulic tools to gain access and remove a simulated patient from an overturned vehicle.

Crews also reviewed winch operations, as well as tools that could manually stabilize and move a 2000 lb vehicle.

It was a busy Saturday for crews at both stations with crews handling 6 calls by 7pm.

At 11am, Engine 1, Rescue 14 & Raleigh Engine 27 as closest engine were dispatched for an overturned car on I540 EB by Loiusburg Rd. Units arrived to find a single car and trailer that had overturned, with no entrapment. Wake EMS 36 responded to treat the injured parties, while New Hope units provided protection to the scene until NC State Highway Patrol was able to clear the scene.

At 1607, Engine 4 & Rescue 14 were dispatched to Rolesville Rd & Fixit Shop Rd, for a reported head on collision. New Hope Fire units arrived to find a 2 car MVC, with no entrapment, but multiple injuries. Eastern Wake EMS responded as well, and treated and transported the injured parties to the hospital.

At 1630, Rolesville FD was dispatched for a brush fire off Hwy 401, but found a controlled burn at 4609 Malor Dr. New Hope Car 2 requested Brush 7 & Tanker 9 to respond from Station 2 to assist, as well as Wake Forest Brush 1 & North the Carolina Forest Service.

While crews from Station 2 were operating at the MVC and brush fire, Engine 1 and Raleigh Engine 19 handled a medical emergency on Capital Blvd.

At 1712, RW911 dispatched New Hope Stations 1 and 2, along with Eastern Wake FD, Wendell FD, and Raleigh FD E27 as closest engine, for a reported structure fire on Marwood Dr, in unincorporated Wake County. Car 1 was first on scene, with New Hope 101 (Deputy Chief Price) establishing command, reporting an 1800 Sq foot residence, with smoke showing from the roof. Chief Price requested 3 additional tankers and 2 additional engines, and provided an updated size-up of a working kitchen fire that had extended to the attic.

Engine 27 was the first engine on scene, and secured their own hydrant, however due to the fact it was a private hydrant system, the IC initiated a tanker shuttle to provide water supply. Several lines were stretched as crews began knocking down the fire, and completing searches.

Once the fire was knocked down, crews set up a PPV fan at the front door to vent all the smoke, and overhaul was completed. The fire was marked as extinguished in less than 45 minutes.

New Hope units who responded included Car 1, Engine 1, Tanker 11, Engine 4, Tanker 9, and Rescue 14

At 0729hrs, RW911 dispatched New Hope Engine 1, Rescue 14, Wake EMS 36 and Raleigh FD Engine 27 (as closest engine) for an MVA at I540 EB and Buffaloe Rd. Minutes later, New Hope Engine 4, Car 1 and Eastern Wake Pumper 2 were dispatched to Forestville Rd & Buffaloe Rd for a report of an overturned school bus. Engine 27 located the crash about a mile from their station, at Buffaloe Rd & Stone Station Dr.

Engine 27 gave a size up of an overturned school bus, with 5 children on board and no entrapment, and it was located in the county, which was the Wake New Hope Fire District. E27 also requested Raleigh Police and NC SHP to respond for traffic control, as they needed to completely close down the roadway. Due to the nature of the crash, New Hope Car 2 (Deputy Chief Price) directed Rescue 14 and Engine 4 to continue in, and returned any mutual aid units that were responding.

After EMS 36 assessing the injured occupants, they downgraded the EMS response to 3 ambulances and EMS District Chief 3, who transported the injured to local hospitals.

New Hope units stood by until the heavy duty tow truck was able to upright the bus, and cleared the scene without further incident
