JULY 21, 2016 – ENGINE 1 & RESCUE 14 RESPOND FOR ROLLOVER

At 10:41am, RWCC dispatched Engine 1, Rescue 14, Car 1 & RFD Engine 27 for a report of an overturned Lexus with the driver pinned. Units arrived on scene to find an overturned vehicle, which had landed back on its tires.  The vehicle came to a stop off the roadway, and ended up in a ditch, preventing the drive from exiting the vehicle from the driver’s side door.  Rescue 14’s crew assisted Wake County EMS in assessing the patient and removing them from the vehicle, while Engine 1’s crew mitigated the vehicle hazards.  The patient was transported to the hospital by Wake County EMS, and crews returned to service in under an hour.

July 18, 2016 – STRUCTURE FIRE AT 2112 RUDDY RD (NEW HOPE FIRE DISTRICT)

Ruddy Rd 10 At 1847, New Hope Fire Department was dispatched for a reported house fire with 1 person still in the residence. New Hope Engine 4 responded from Station 2, and Engine 1 responded from Station 1, with Tanker 11 right behind them.

Engine 4 arrived on scene to find a 1 story residential structure with heavy smoke and flames visible from the roof and began stretching attack lines. Wendell Engine 115 arrived next, followed closely by Engine 1, and crews from both units made entry and encountered heavy fire in the Charlie/Delta side bedrooms, as well as the ceiling.

New Hope Car 1 (Chief McCauley) arrived, and requested 3 additional tankers from Roseville and Eastern Wake FD to respond due to the lack of hydrants in the area.

Interior crews knocked down the bulk of the fire, and the IC marked the fire under control in just under 40 minutes, cancelling the additional tankers.  Units stayed on scene overhauling and extinguishing hot spots, as well as  to assist with the investigation.

Units on scene included New Hope Engine 4, Engine 1, Car 1, Tanker 10, Rescue 14, Tanker 11, Tanker 9, Tanker 10, Wendell E115, Eastern Wake Pumper 2, Eastern Wake EMS Chief District 6, EMS 63 & the Wake County EMS Major Operations Support Truck 1.

  The Wake-New Hope Fire Department Inc. has opened an application process for full-time firefighters working rotating 24 hr shifts.

Salary: $36,692.00/ annually

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs firefighting suppression and prevention of fires; rescue victims, answer calls, medical emergencies, operates/maintains all department equipment and station facilities; participates in ongoing training programs; works under close supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs duties as directed; may be required to perform other assigned related duties. Must be in good physical condition to be able to enter dangerous situations and perform under strenuous conditions for extended periods.

 

APPLICANT SELECTION PROCESS:

 

  • Qualified applicants must complete a written exam, physical assessment and an oral interview.
  • Complete background investigation
  • Pass an established drug screening

 

All of the following are Mandatory:

                                    High School Diploma or Equivalent

21 years of age

NC Certified Haz-Mat Level I, (ops)

NC Certified EMT or Higher

NC Firefighter Level II (NFPA 1001)

Completion of NIMS ICS 100,200,700 & 800

Possess a valid NC Class B License (or obtain first 3 month of employment)

JULY 2, 2016 – E1, C20, and ATV31 RESPOND TO INJURED PERSON ON GREENWAY

A bicyclist was injured on the green way at Horse Shoe Farm Rd. The patient was located approximately 1/4 mile down the trail. NHFD responded to render medical aid and transport the patient to EMS using our specialized ATV.

JUNE 28, 2016 – R14, E4 & E1 RESPOND TO 2 CAR MVA WITH 1 PINNED

At 7:31am, New Hope Rescue 14 & Engine 4 were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Buffaloe Rd & Forestville Rd. Units arrived on scene to find a T-bone collision, with one of the drivers trapped in the vehicle. Engine 1 was added to the assignment, and the crew from Rescue 14 went to work freeing the driver from the vehicle. After a performing a door pop, the crews were able to extricate the drive, and he was turned over to Eastern Wake EMS for transport to the hospital. WHNFD crews cleared the scene in under an hour, and turned the scene over to the NC Highway Patrol for investigation.
